This course has two complementary goals.  The first is to examine a wide range of economic issues relating to women's lives and to changes in women's lives, especially issues involving family and work.  The second goal is to use these issues as a means to learn microeconomics more deeply and to appreciate its strengths and weaknesses. The economic theory we will be using is related to the basic ideas and tools used in introductory microeconomics, but, as you will see, the applications are unusual, interesting, and sometimes controversial
