Dr. Jay Coughenour joined the University of Delaware in 1999 with a PhD in Finance from Arizona State University (1995). Jay’s research examines stock market structure, transaction costs, and market efficiency, and has been presented at the New York Stock Exchange, Securities and Exchange Commission, National Bureau of Economic Research, and at over 40 conferences and other forums. Jay’s research is published in the Journal of Finance, Journal of Financial Economics, Journal of Derivatives, and the Financial Review, and has been awarded the WFA-NYSE Best Paper Award (2006) and the FMA-Nasdaq Best Microstructure Paper Award (2001). Jay regularly teaches Corporate Finance, Investments, and Risk Management in the undergraduate, MBA, and Executive-MBA programs, and has received teaching excellence awards from undergraduate and EMBA students. Jay has worked at the Securities & Exchange Commission, University of Pittsburgh, the University of Massachusetts, and has served as an expert witness in securities fraud cases. Currently Jay serves as the Chair of the Department of Finance and on the Investment Committee for the Christiana Care Board of Directors.
